Previous Experience

  • Worked as Deputy Clinical Director for Women & Childrens Directorate, Russells Hall Hospital, UK
  • Head of Department of Paediatrics at Russells Hall Hospital, Dudley, UK
  • I am Medical Director for Newborn Life Support, Resuscitation Council, UK
  • I am registered instructor for Newborn Life Support, Resuscitation Council, UK
  • I was Chief Resident at Craigavon Hospital managing the duty rota of junior doctors
  • I have been Clinical Service Lead (Interim- covering for sick leave) for Acute Paediatrics at Russells Hall Hospital from January 2017 to April 2017 that gave me insight into the management issues. During this time, a Specialty Doctor was appointed and the gaps in consultant rota were managed with the ideas and help from other consultant colleagues. Achievement of Trust’s CQUIN of discharge summaries was also addressed.
  • I have shadowed Deputy Clinical Tutor when counseling Foundation trainees in difficulty.
  • During winter bed pressures, I worked flexibly and innovatively by starting early and thereby discharging patients early. This created beds on the ward which was further helped by the choice I gave to parents/carers to collect prescriptions on way out. I manage my clinics well in advance to maximise productivity by identifying and filling up empty slots.
  • I have led an audit and written an evidence based guideline for the local use in the department on interpretation of ECG, thus improving quality of services.
  • I have shadowed Medical Director during Trust Management days which gave me insight into managerial issues.
  • I was Chief Resident at Craigavon Hospital managing the duty rota of junior doctors which gave me an insight into staffing and staff management.
